Cookie Policy
1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. They help the website remember your preferences and improve your experience. Cookies can be "session cookies" (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent cookies" (remain until they expire or you delete them).
2. Cookies we use
VintaOS uses a minimal number of cookies. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
vinta-theme |
Remembers your light/dark mode preference | Essential | Persistent (until cleared) |
vinta-cookie-consent |
Records your cookie consent choice (accept/decline) | Essential | Persistent (until cleared) |
2.1 What these cookies do
- vinta-theme: Stores either "light" or "dark" so the website loads with your preferred color scheme. Without this cookie, the site falls back to your system preference.
- vinta-cookie-consent: Stores whether you accepted or declined the cookie notice, so we do not show you the banner again on subsequent visits. The value is a JSON object containing only a version number, a boolean, and a timestamp.
2.2 What these cookies do not do
- They do not track your browsing behavior across websites.
- They do not collect personally identifiable information.
- They are not sent to any third-party service.
- They are stored entirely in your browser's local storage (not on our servers).
3. Third-party cookies
We do not use any third-party cookies. Our website does not embed third-party analytics (such as Google Analytics), advertising trackers, social media widgets, or any other service that sets cookies in your browser.
4. Do you need cookie consent?
Under most cookie regulations (including the EU ePrivacy Directive and best practices), consent is required for non-essential cookies — cookies used for analytics, advertising, or tracking. Since VintaOS only uses essential cookies that are strictly necessary for the website to function, consent is technically not required.
However, as a transparency measure, we display a cookie notice banner that explains what cookies we use and gives you the option to acknowledge or decline. This banner appears once and does not block your access to the site.
5. Managing cookies
You can manage or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. The steps vary by browser:
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Cookies and site permissions
Note: Disabling the essential cookies listed above may affect your experience — for example, your theme preference will not be remembered, and the cookie notice may reappear on each visit.
6. Changes to this policy
If we add new cookies or change how we use them, we will update this Cookie Policy and display a notice on the website. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
